Hyaluronic Acid Fillers are made of a compound that is naturally found in the skin. Its purpose is to provide structure and support to the skin as well as attracting water particles for hydration.
Hyaluronic acid in fillers has been treated in the lab to make it more suitable as a filler, by adding cross bridges, so that it is broken down less quickly.
Fillers aren't generally a one size fits all treatment. They are manufactured in different particle sizes, so that the most suitable filler can be placed in the most suitable area for optimum results. More coarse particles are suited to the deeper layers of the skin to add volume, such as in the cheeks. Whereas finer smoother particles are suited to the more superficial layers such as the skin around the eyes or lips.
The products used also contain local anaesthetic, to after the initial injections, the skin begins to numb making it more comfortable as the procedure progresses.
Since January 2018, I can also offer cannula injections, best suited for the mid face, which significantly reduces the risk of bruising in this area since is uses a blunter needle. This may seem to sound more painful but in actual fact it offers less pain than standard injections with the bolus technique of sharp needles.
